Based on the experiences, the next version called SN7 is an improved, monoblock design, where the lever housing is integrated into the caliper body. Some of the most popular Mercedes engines...
OM 501 is a 12-litre V6 (while OM 502 is V8) engine used in Mercedes Actros and OM457 is an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine (12-litre, too) used in Mercedes-Benz O345 also known as Conecto.
Our main focus this time:
air-brake compressors
built onto these engines.
OM 501 and 502 is fitted with a compressor that have no separate crankcase (the compressor cylinder liner is placed on the engine block and the compressor crankshaft is inside the engine).
This is actually the reason for not having a part number for the complete unit, as there is no such thing. If needed, separate components must be picked one-by-one.
Both 1 and 2 cylinder versions available:
OM457 has been fitted with a number of different kind of compressors both 1, 2 and 3 cylinder (the latest versions developed by Voith, under reference number LP490 (2 cylinder) and LP700 (3 cylinder) but this time we address the old, conventional type of compressor under reference number 4471302815.
Well, the problem is that the mentioned compressors have very similar gaskets and one may easily switch them, especially if trying to find the repair kits / gaskets by compressor type, which is not identifiable for the OM501/502 engines (reason explained above).
Obviously, if wrong gasket is used, the compressor will not work.
For such cases, our simple guide may come in handy:
4471302815 compressor fitted with cylinder head 4471302815 (our reference GK16409) should use repair kit GK16009.
is a bit more complicated as you will see...
Cylinder head without valve plate and gaskets is identified as
5411310619 = 5411310719 = 5411311119 = GK16404B.
The valve plate alone is 5411300620 = GK16003D.
And finally, the 2 cylinder version, equipped with cylinder heads 5411303619
Unfortunately there's one more version which we couldn't pair with any cylinder head.
The repair kit number is GK16002.
So be aware, you may encounter this one, too.

The root cause is either a material quality, an assembly or a machining related issue. This time we look at the machining problems.
As we have figured out the problem in most cases relates to surface roughness. Checking of this is a simple, yet critical phase of the manufacturing process, that many of the producers fail to perform correctly. Compressors are a time-bomb on the vehicles. Sooner or later time is up, and problems come.
Our internal policy addresses this problem effectively: all outsourced cylinder-heads go through a surface grinding process.
This is the great difference between us and spare part dealers that may buy from the same factory.

International criminals somehow managed to send e-mail to our client, seemingly following up on our recent conversation.
Our mail system provider is Google (Gmail) and their investigation confirmed our e-mails are safe and couldn't be hacked.
We have activated all suggested e-mail authentication tools*, which makes it almost impossible to hijack our e-mails, but these attackers didn't even bother to do so.
They simply registered a new, similarly looking e-mail address: AirbrakeMarket@weibsvolk.org and used it for sending, imitating as if we have changed this as well.
The message, as you'd expect, was also a fake:
"Did you receive my update about audit in our banks? with regards to future payments we will update you."
Usually, our clients report to us when experiencing such issues.
You should be aware of this as well and always ask us before sending money to "our new bank account", especially if this is outside of our country of residence: Slovakia (EU).

The EU - Korea FTA deal allows South Korean importers to get a 'preferential' rate of duty. Now we are in!

The EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) has been provisionally applied since 2011 and was formally ratified in 2015.
It goes further than any previous agreements in lifting trade limitations and providing new market opportunities for businesses.
South Korea was and will be an important export market for us.
Getting prepared for the customs requirements for preferential origin goods was all-in-all not a complicated process, yet the paperwork took many months.
Any exporter in the EU or KR can issue an origin declaration for consignments not exceeding the value of EUR 6000. However, this was often a barrier for us and the recently obtained Approved Exporter status has solved this problem.
We can now officially issue origin declarations for consignments in excess of EUR 6000.
This achievement allows South Korean importers to get a 'preferential' rate of duty (reduced, or even zero) as long as the goods meet the preferential rules of origin.
